For Cynth

Dear Cynth, I saw something and thought of you, something that I hope can turn your world a shade less blue (and more crimson)...

A package came and piqued the curiosity of everyone in town. First, because they didn’t recognize the addressee - after all, it was a town of 850 people. Second, because there were so many stamps on it, from Sierra Leone, Thailand, Luxembourg, East Germany, everywhere! Why is that? Who is this person? The town tried to guess, even took an x-ray of the package, and finally decided to go the heck with it, commit a felony and open it. There was a conch, a pair of clogs, a boomerang, castanets, and other grand items! And a letter, from the addressee! Turns out he was an 8-yr- old boy who really wanted to go to Antarctica or Brazil, but couldn't yet. He was too young, couldn't afford it; plus he would have to get a lot of shots. So instead, he sent a box to a place faraway hoping someone in that place will open it, find his note, and grant his request which is to put something in the box, something from that town/place, and then send it another place else far away so that maybe it would go around the world.

The town of Cicely, Alaska decided to put a thermometer in – because “it’s been in the mouth of everyone in town” and sent it to (after spinning the globe and putting a finger on a random spot) India...
